Video Premiere | Miriam Clancy, “Kamikaze Angels”

With a few albums under her belt, New Zealand’s Miriam Clancy has been following up her 2019 full-length, Astronomy, with a few singles over the past couple of years. One thing about Clancy though is she isn’t easy to pin down as her sprawling creativity is expansive. Now after a 3-year wait, she’s set on releasing her new album Black Heart for a January 13, 2023 release.

As in her true fashion, she releases the video to the first single off the release, “Kamikaze Angels” and it may not be what you expect, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it’s quite amazing. She sings along to the sole distorted guitar melodies before shifting dynamics as it explodes through speakers. Of the single, Miriam Clancy offers:

“‘Kamikaze Angels’ zooms in on the impressionable and hurting mind of a religious/political terrorist or a suicide bomber seeking something they are lacking – validation, acknowledgment or just to make someone pay for the bad they are feeling. A low-flying duck for manipulators who build them up and then weaponizes them to do their bidding for a higher cause, promising belonging, salvation, and honor… it’s all such bollocks. They are then left alone to carry it out, wear a ticking bomb, and wipe your tears and fears away.”
