The Cool Kids Share “Scam Likely,” Announce NIGHT SCHOOL

The Cool Kids — the esteemed duo of rapper Sir Michael Rocks and rapper-producer Chuck Inglish — announce NIGHT SCHOOL, a special night of food, comedy, and music coming to Chicago’s Thalia Hall on Saturday, September 24. With NIGHT SCHOOL, The Cool Kids turn the modern-day rap concert on its head, offering a three-part multi-faceted experience that seeks to capture a cultural heft unseen since DJ Kool Herc’s NYC parties.

To celebrate this announcement, The Cool Kids have also dropped a video for “Scam Likely,” from their 2022 album Before Shit Got Weird, released this March. The track’s potent blend of blown-out 808s, discordant jazz samples, and signature lines about mattress preferences and remixing Cup Noodles into gourmet pasta are set to a video riddled with VHS distortion. Watch “Scam Likely,” directed by Lonnie Edwards and filmed in multiple locations around Chicago, including noted Vietnamese spot Phodega.

NIGHT SCHOOL kicks off with FIRST PERIOD: a dinner curated by Chuck Inglish; followed by SECOND PERIOD: a LIVE Mystery School Podcast; and finishes with THIRD PERIOD: a performance from The Cool Kids & Friends. Tickets for NIGHT SCHOOL go on sale today at 12 pm CT and will be available in three tiers:

—VIP grants fans access to THIRD PERIOD as well as SECOND PERIOD to witness a live taping of the Mystery School Podcast, Sir Michael Rocks’ hit Twitch live streaming show with co-host Owen Bones. For FIRST PERIOD, music-icon-turned-Chef Chuck Inglish teams up with local culinary artists to collaborate on a fixed menu that will have The Cool Kids community tasting what Chuck describes as “the resounding effect that the Black culture has had on the culinary world.” He continues: “So many of the dishes I’ll be preparing have been foundations of many households across America’s multicultural communities.”
