Shakka Shares Video For Latest Single

Shakka just released the video for his latest single “Solo” featuring Goldlink, filmed mostly in Accra, Ghana with Goldlink’s scenes filmed in London. The video follows the release of the British R&B vocalist, producer and hitmaking songwriter’s self-penned track, released last month via Base ‘N Rebulz’ / Marathon Artists. “Solo” follows previous single “When You Pull Up,” and comes after Shakka’s recent Grammy Award win for his songwriting on Dua Lipa’s chart-topping album Future Nostalgia.

“Just like many others, I spent 2020 in London under a nationwide lockdown so I wanted the video for ‘Solo’ to feel like a paradise; to feel like the moment we’re all able to reconnect and see the outside world again,” notes Shakka. “This whole experience is a romanticist’s pursuit of love; a story told from the tropics of Accra, Ghana.”

“Shakka’s music is so visual and textured, as soon as I heard Solo I knew we had to take it abroad, somewhere hot!,” adds director Ray Fiasco. “Shooting Solo was a really unique experience. Creating various worlds for Shakka to travel through in a believable way, and having a video to escape into. We shot in so many locations, through intense set ups, but it really brings the visual to life, as he follows the girl of his dreams through Ghana.”

West London-born Shakka has had a string of mainstream hits including the platinum selling single “Man Down” featuring Aluna George. He’s collaborated with the likes of Young Thug, Tinie Tempah, Sigma and more; his songwriting efforts have seen his distinctive lyricism shine through on hits by Sean Paul ft. Stefflon Don and Ella Eyre; and he has won two MOBO Awards for R&B/Soul Act.

Shakka spent the pre-pandemic portion of 2020 hidden away in the hills of Los Angeles beginning work on his album with the likes of Al Shux (Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg), Jonah Christian (Snoh Aalegra, Anderson. Paak, SiR) and Karl Rubin (Swae Lee, 6lack), seeing Shakka return to his R&B roots and lining him up to take his rightful place within the current R&B renaissance. With over 250 million streams to his name to-date, Shakka continues his ascent gearing up for the release of his long-awaiting debut album later this year.
