Pearl & The Oysters Share Video For New Single “Konami”

Pearl & The Oysters is the French-American duo of Juliette Pearl Davis and Joachim Polack. Their new song “Konami” is out now along with a video directed by Salvador Cresta.

“Konami” was inspired by Juliette’s trusty white noise machine, once used to overcome restless nights. Pearl & The Oysters imagined the machine’s ‘surf’ setting “morphing into ocean waves in the hypnagogic hallucinations of a slightly obsessional mind” to create the track. “Konami” means ‘small wave’ in Japanese and the title also makes reference to the video game company. The band says: “somehow the beat reminded us of the kind of music associated with 90s jet ski arcade games like Wave Shark!” Alan Palomo of Neon Indian contributed additional production on the song with his “amazing collection of analog effects. Feeling the song come alive with Alan was such a magical moment!”

Pearl & The Oysters met at high school in Paris and immediately bonded over their mutual love for ’70s jazz and ‘90s space age pop. They have been writing and performing together ever since, and moved across the Atlantic together in 2015. They released “Pacific Ave” on Stones Throw at the end of 2022.
