Mew share video for "The Night Believer," tour (2015)

Combining roundabouts, zoos and robots, considered some of the very best aspects of Copenhagen, Danish alt-rockers MEW debut the visual accompaniment music video for ‘The Night Believer’, lifted from the band’s current album + – (plus minus) released earlier this year through Play It Again Sam.

Produced by the UK-based Kestrel Media, the video was conceived by Lianne Pierce who also created the Pixies’ animated video for ‘Bagboy’.Pierce  has teamed up with the stop-motion animator Will Hodge (Disney’s “Frankenweenie,”  Wes Anderson’s “Fantastic Mr. Fox”) to create the ‘The Night Believer’ visuals.  Pierce and Hodge set to work crafting 2D, cardboard creatures to cruise around in colorful, plasticine cars, using stop motion and After Effects trickery to bring everything to life.  The result is a race between a variety of critters and a towering, hungry robot, all tangled in a myriad of color and accompanied by the cheery tune of ‘The Night Believer.’
Released earlier this year , + – picked up critical acclaim on both sides of the pond – spectacular reviews in the U.S. courtesy of the likes of Pitchfork, Stereogum whilst reaching the #2 spot on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and amassing more than two-million Spotify plays. Europe, meanwhile has seen sold out shows including London’s Roundhouse and critics hailing the band’s long awaited return which saw four star reviews in Q and DIY magazine.
