The True Faith Share “A Cry For Help” From Forthcoming Go To Ground LP

Boston’s The True Faith have released the third single from their forthcoming LP, Go To Ground, which sees release via à La Carte Records (Lesser Care, Don’t Get Lemon) on January 10, 2023. Stream it here.

The track is a departure from the dark sounds of their two antecedent singles. In “A Cry For Help,” thundering toms and vast lead guitar melodies serve as the formidable backbone of the song as lead vocalist Travis Benson’s powerful vocal sways dynamically between a delicate baritone and explosive tenor that closer mirrors the C86 sound of The Close Lobsters than their goth rock predecessors.

According to Benson, “this song touches on the problems with daily living, how we are subjected to them, and how we cope. We are all in this life we never consented to yet we are forced to navigate our way through it without any help.”

The single is paired with a b-side remix from Gardens East. Taking cues from artists like Croatian Amor and Burial, Gardens East is the electronic project of Old Moon’s Tom Weir. In this remix, Weir delivers a reimagined take on the song that balances ambient drones and trance beats that sound like they were pulled straight from the ’90s “Pure Moods” compilation.

Go To Ground is slated for release, in vinyl and CD editions, via the DIY label/collective à La Carte Records. The U.S. version of the CD will come with an exclusive demo track that won’t be available anywhere else. Paris-based label Icy Cold Records will be releasing a Euro version of the CD that will come with its own exclusive treat. They will also be carrying copies of the vinyl for those who wish to save on international shipping costs. The band has worked with three tape-focused labels around the world to create a cassette collection with U.S., European, and Australian variations from Candlepin RecordsSummer Darling Tapes, and Honeyglider Records respectively.
