Sad Planets (John Petkovic & Patrick Carney) Share New Single, "Not Of This World", Announce LP

John Petkovic is a busy man. When he’s not recording and releasing music he’s, well, recording and releasing music. With a number of projects both previous and current under his belt like Death Of Samantha, Cobra Verde, Guided By Voices, Sweet Apple, etc., the announcement comes of the new Sad Planets. This time around Petkovic joins forces with the Black Keys drummer Pat Carney!

The duo will release its debut full-length album Akron, Ohio (Tee Pee Records) on April 19th and features a guest appearance by J Mascis, of Dinosaur Jr. who also plays with Petkovic in Sweet Apple.

Akron, Ohio… An All-American City. The city that powered America’s ride into the 20th  century as the tire capital of the world. Where the American dream came easy and Art Deco skyscrapers sprang up. As Akron declined, along with the rest of the industrial Midwest, it inspired something very different – music from area bands such as Devo, the Cramps, Chrissie Hynde and Tin Huey.

The two Akron natives bonded over music that came out of the Akron area, but also the city’s glorious past and tumultuous present. The forthcoming album celebrates the their friendship and allowed the two to have fun creating it. Sad Planets shares the first single “Not Of This World,” which showcases its classic rock influences.
