Houston, Texas trio Apparitions is set to release its new Volcanic Reality on March 24, 2025. An early feel for the band’s album notes its intriguingly claustrophobic feel, which is brutal, gorgeous, and conceptually complex.
Apparitions fit perfectly in the contemporary doom/drone metal canon, while also standing out both for their heady depth and for the aesthetic detail that is Igor Imbu’s bewitching modular synthesizer explorations.
The group shares its new single, “Dancing On The Grave Of A Son Of A Bitch,” which is a testament to that. Inspired by the Diane Wakoski poem of the same name, this track serves as a sort of departure from the environment of the record and in doing so, elevates the set as a whole. Noisy and quick on its feet, this song is overflowing with anger and ecstasy, like the poem.
