It seems we all may have forgotten what truly moves us. Regardless of genre, if the music doesn’t have a piece of the artist’s soul within it, it’s not going to generate any heat. But this brings us to the Soul Motivators, who is setting out to become the premier funk outfit based in Toronto, Canada. The band’s reverence for soulful R&B filtered through a funk lens is captivating. Lead singer Shahi is a commanding force of nature as is the band, which drips heavily through 70s-era funk and soul, with an obscene number of breakbeats to force the group’s contemporaries to shy away quickly.

The Soul Motivators deliver the video for its new “Raise A Glass,” which is off the band’s newly announced Do It Together (Do Right Music), set to be released on March 24, 2023. With its intense rhythm, the song allows the horn section to fill any and all open space left by guitars drenched in effects. If there was ever a beast of a track, this would be it.
