Jon Spencer and the HITMakers Share “Worm Town”

Taken from the forthcoming hit record album – SPENCER GETS IT LIT! (In The Red) out April 1, 2022, “Worm Town” is a cautionary tale told with swagger and strut.  “Twinkle twinkle little star, tried to run but I didn’t get far,” croons Spencer, spinning his story over funky industrial percussion, chicken-scratch guitar, and interplanetary synths. Worm Town is a truly electric funeral, a futuristic fable for the 21st Century and beyond.  In a place truly out of time and space, the video – made long-distance using the most modern computer and satellite technologies – sees Spencer and the HITmakers caught in a vicious time loop, heading for moral reckoning and an almost certain demise.

Spencer explains, “You can have all the money in the world, luxury yachts, oil wells, and command an army, but when your time is up – none of that will matter – you got to go. And what you reap, you gonna sow” Spencer Gets It Lit is classic Jon Spencer took to the extreme – electro-boogie, constructivist art pop, a psychedelic swamp of industrial sleaze and futurist elegance. It is an epic masterwork of freakbeat from the world’s weirdest garage. Across brain-boggling layers of fury, fuzz guitar, and a crash-bang battery of phaser blasts, photon torpedoes, and otherworldly zounds, he frantically spits, croons, rhapsodizes, and seduces. Spencer Gets It Lit is his most complex and groovy record in years, a dark, danceable odyssey – both a studied take-down of the early 21st century and a celebration of the place where electricity meets the mind.
