Hodgy Drops Video For “Into Someone”

Hodgy announces his new project Entitled today along with a new single and video for “Into Someone.” The project from the rapper / producer is due May 20th via Poortrait Records / Repost, SoundCloud’s artist services division, and is his first release since his 2016 LP Fireplace. In the time since his last album, Hodgy — an original member of Odd Future — has focused on his personal life including going to recovery for addiction, moving from Los Angeles to Toronto with his family, and various other creative ventures.

On “Into Someone,” Hodgy notes, “I find joy in creating sections in song over minimal production. Love is necessary, and a topic/feeling that will live on after we no longer exist.” He adds, “I recorded the song in Toronto, Ontario, working out of a studio in the pandemic that has become a second home.”

The visual for “Into Someone” is a film by Andrew Beach and Jennifer Baichwal — artists that Hodgy finds highly inspiring — and comes courtesy of Mercury Films. “Spending most of my spare time in nature, we need to remind ourselves to take a second and exist in mother nature’s carnival,” noted Hodgy.

The Entitled project announcement follows his previous two recent singles “People Change,” which was co-produced with frequent collaborator Left Brain and whose raw and rough-edged material reflects where he was mentally then; and “Everyday” which was produced by Gorillaz’s Jeff Wootton.
