This Friday Long Island post-hardcore group Crash the Calm will be releasing the final installment of their sprawling new album A Town Named Nowhere. “‘A Town Named Nowhere’ centers around the inhabitants of the fictional town of “Nowhere” which existed during the Dust Bowl era of the United States. The lyrical content is from the varying perspectives of the townspeople, who each must deal with their own inner strife juxtaposed with the looming chaos and disaster brought on by rampant dust storms and economic ruin. Apart from the deeper story, it’s a record about finding your way through life altering experiences and putting back the pieces when they seem shattered beyond repair from the start.”
In September, we talked with the ensemble about the album which can be found here. Today Crash the Calm dropped the video for the single coming off Volume 3, “No Deeper Than A Coffin.” The band says on the single, “‘No Deeper Than A Coffin’ is about letting go of the failures you define yourself with. It’s recognizing that you have more power than anyone else to change your surroundings and circumstances. Defining your own idea of happiness based on something from the past will just erode you away.”
As for what to expect for Volume 3: “Volume III is about making peace with the present. As the dust settles, there are glimmers of hope and opportunity. It’s a chance for Clifford to begin anew and walk away from the nightmares that have been plaguing him. Clifford can still write his own ending, all that’s left is to try.”
