War Party share "Eat Rent," Hobo King," ready To Love and Fear It

By Kyle Eustice
Part Black Lips, part Replacements and equal parts awesome, Fort Worth’s War Party is on a mission to spread its take on pure, unadulterated rock-n-roll.
The members of War Party— singer Cameron Smith, Peter Marsh, Tyler Moore, Ricky Williford, and Chris Waldon— are proud to announce the single “Eat Rent” off their digital 7-inch that contains B-side “Hobo King” Recorded at Electric Berryland Studios in December of 2014 with Jordan Richardson and mastered by Danny Kalb, the song was written by Smith while on tour in Los Angeles.
“It’s about laying all security in your life on the line for a foggy notion of purpose and meaning, especially if it has become habitual,” Smith explains. “So quite literally ‘eat rent’ means spending the money you should be spending on rent on food instead; be it real food or food for the mind or the heart. Whatever, really.”
With influences such as Fugazi, The Stooges, Guided by Voices, Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Gang of Four, The Replacements, and Leonard Cohen, War Party is the perfect combination of everything you love.
