Upsilon Acrux tours in support of Sun Square Dialect (2015)

From the crowded shelf of unstable land known as Los Angeles, Upsilon Acrux departs eastbound in October in support of its latest album, Sun Square Dialect, released on New Atlantis Records earlier this year.
Boasting its best lineup to date, the ever-changing Upsilon Acrux now consists of double drums, a Fender Rhodes piano, and two guitars including founder Paul Lai’s chrome-plated axe. Drummer Dylan Fujioka is a member of Chelsea Wolfe’s current band, and Rhodes player Patrick Shiroishi played on Wolfe’s Pain Is Beauty album. Twenty years since the Upsilon’s inception, the newest incarnation churns out intricate, polyrhythmic madness in the realm of Don Caballero and Battles.

Upsilon Acrux’s October jaunt takes place shortly after wrapping up a handful of dates in support of Chelsea Wolfe – it is a prime chance for people across the eastern U.S. and Canada to witness live what has been described by VICE as “the spirit of hardcore and post-rock with the complexity of classical compositions.”
