Washington, DC’s Swings are excited to share their sophomore album Sugarwater in full ahead of the album’s release date this Friday, November 13 via Exploding In Sound Records (with cassettes on Como Tapes).
Sugarwater is the young experimental pop band’s second record this year, following the January release of their full length debut Detergent Hymns (released on Quiet Year Records). The prolific trio decided to take some time off from college to focus on their music and a busy touring schedule, and it’s evident they aren’t wasting any time. Pushing the boundaries of their sound in new directions, Swings’ blend of punk inflected jazz, indie rock, experimental emo, hauntingly twisted pop, delicate synth layering, and the post-punk intelligence of their hometown is something unique and altogether refreshing. There’s a fluidity to Swings’ music that washes over everything, forever reinventing itself like the crashing tide. Swings are in middle of a 50+ date Fall/Winter U.S. tour in support of Sugarwater, that included a stop at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon as well as dates with Mal Devisa, The Cradle (members of Big Neck Police), Sidebitch, and more.
