Lowercase Roses is playing their 7-inch record release show this Friday, August 21 at Everybody Hits! in Philadelphia. The band will be joined by Augusta Koch (of Cayetana), Thin Lips and Cherry.
Lowercase Roses, the new project from Matthew Scheuermann, grew out of a change in scenery. Coming from Cleveland to the Philadelphia scene, Scheuermann began recording and performing the songs that would become his self-titled EP under the name Roses (later changed to Lowercase Roses). Reminiscent of the indie singer-songwriters of the late ‘90s, the Lowercase Roses EP is filled with hypnotizingly beautiful melodies. Like the artists that inspired him, Scheuermann packs each track with the kind of emotion and clever lyricism that instantly sticks.
With just an acoustic guitar and striking vocals, Lowercase Roses releases three songs that feel simultaneously completely unique and comfortably familiar. This charming contradiction has already begun winning hearts in the Philadelphia scene. With the first physical release under the name Lowercase Roses, Scheuermann starts off with the three perfect songs to re-introduce him to the world as a creative force in indie-rock songwriting.
