Since the 80s, indie rock has birthed a number of artists as diverse as cuisines from around the globe. For Superblue, the trio of guitarist/vocalist Jake Valentine, his brother Ryan Valentine on drums, and their childhood friend, Justin Thomas on rhythm guitar and bass, the group from Sandwich, Illinois delivers music that’s honest and direct. It harks back to days when groups recorded songs on 8-tracks and letting the melody and loud drums set the tone.

The band’s latest effort is an endearing single in the form of “Clouds,” which is slightly disjointed with Jake’s laconic vocal delivery leading the way. Of the song, Valentine says he was inspired by “the dog days of summer and the changing of the seasons along with some personal thoughts that had my head in the clouds.”
