Lewis Lane pairs her favorite videos of 2016 with cocktails

Lewis Lane has one of those voices that can be the entire engine for a record, and potentially a long lasting career. Pairing the breathy seduction of Lana Del Rey with the force of a singer like Adele, Lewis Lane’s voice builds on the pop and soul edifice that’s so popular right now, while the music occasionally hints at so many coy moments in that romantic decade of the 1980s, back when a recording featured musicians actually playing simultaneously with one another in the studio.
Her recent Take EP shows the shining brilliance of her vocal quivers; she’s an artist for people who love singers, not just singles.
Ghettoblaster recently caught up with Lewis to discuss her favorite music videos of 2016.  She went one further and paired them with a beverage to drink while watching them cause she’s a boss.  This is what she told us.
Lewis Lane’s top 10 music videos of 2016, paired with a beverage.

  1. Kanye West – “Fade” (https://youtu.be/IxGvm6btP1A)

If you can ignore the controversy that is Kanye West, this video is a mesmerizing combination of physical triumph and raw sexual magnetism that gives you all the feels downtown. Well, until the lambs take over.
While watching, drink a Vodka Redbull.

  1. Eighty Ninety – “Heartbreaker” (https://youtu.be/90UFgxbCx4k)

If you do not have a boyfriend, do not watch this video. I REPEAT do not watch this video. Hell, even if you do, don’t watch. He’ll never live up to it. This is the indie version of “Teenage Dream” that makes you want to lose your virginity to a guy in a band on a rainy Sunday.
While watching, drink a French 75.

  1. Solange – “Crane In The Sky” (https://youtu.be/S0qrinhNnOM)

This video is downright beautiful. Clean, crisp clothing and subtle interesting movements in stunningly vast landscapes. Aesthetically pleasing takes on a new definition.
While watching, drink a Mint Julep.

  1. The Lumineers – “Sleep On The Floor” (https://youtu.be/v4pi1LxuDHc)

Broke-ass millennials, rejoice! This video is for you. It’s soft and sweet and heartbreaking. It visualizes the tough choices we all have to make in our 20s and how that decision could affect the rest of our lives. It also encourages you to follow your heart, which, is always the right choice IMO.
While watching, drink a Fernet with Coke.

  1. Miike Snow – “Genghis Khan” (https://youtu.be/P_SlAzsXa7E)

This juxtaposition between a Dr. Evil-esque villain and Singing In The Rain-esque dancing makes this video incredibly charming. Not to mention the love affair twist. Swoon.
White watching, drink a Vodka neat.

  1. DJ Snake- “Let Me Love You” (ft. Justin Bieber) (https://youtu.be/euCqAq6BRa4)

Who doesn’t love a surprise ending about how fucked up video games are and why we let children play them for hours on end?!?!? JK, I have no idea if they do any harm, I’m just a sucker for a surprise ending. Oh also, sorry, uh, SPOILER ALERT.
While watching, drink a Miller High Life.

  1. Radiohead – “Burn The Witch” (https://youtu.be/yI2oS2hoL0k)

Claymation depicting the hot mess that is our current society makes it more bearable to watch and more poignant at the same time. It’s deep, it’s hard to swallow, it leaves you with your jaw wide open. (That was supposed to sound serious, not dirty).
While watching, drink a big gulp of reality. Or, an Old Fashioned.

  1. OK Go – “The One Moment” (https://youtu.be/QvW61K2s0tA)

You cannot pull your eyes away from the exploding colors timed perfectly to the music. This video doesn’t try to be too cool for school, its fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously (although I’m sure filming it was extremely serious for safety reasons).
While watching, drink a Fuzzy Navel.

  1. Beyoncé – “Formation” (https://youtu.be/1ZDEX2ggvao)

How can you begin to describe Queen Bey. This video is unbelievable powerful, sickeningly cool, visually striking and just perfect. She stands up for what she believes in with zero apologies. Who run the world?
While watching, drink an Alabama Slammer.

  1. Fifth Harmony – “Work From Home” (ft. Ty Dolla $ign) (https://youtu.be/5GL9JoH4Sws)

WAIT don’t click away, I’m serious. This video gives me the greatest 2000’s nostalgia. Just some lady hotties grinding on cement mixers while dude hotties hammer stuff, which of course ends in a flying V formation dance number. The Pussycat Dolls and Danity Kane would be proud.
While watching, drink anything with Malibu.
