Song Premiere: Smug Brothers, "(A Minute For) Ruby Skate"

Ohio’s Smug Brothers have released a split cassette with Brat Curse via Hope For The Tape Deck.
Some of the material for the Smug Brothers side dates back to 2009 when they were working on the aborted Blazing Trenchcoat Operator album, warping back to 2000 when Kyle Melton was still in Montgomery Greene and was working on the Secondary Wish List album, and summer 2014 when they were recording at The Whole.
Lead track “(A Minute for) Ruby Skate” was recorded this past summer with Micah Carli at Popside Studios, where they also finished overdubs for the older material. They met Matt Marcinowski of HFTTD last summer when we traveled to Philadelphia and he offered to do a split with them and Brat Curse. After they wrapped up work on Woodpecker Paradise earlier this year, they set to work on tidying up the old material and setting up sessions with Micah. In the end the tracking/overdubs to finish the album were done over two days in August.
They have a Dec. 11 show at South Park Tavern in Dayton, Ohio, currently on the books. Brian Baker and Brat Curse will be touring in January 2016.
To celebrate the release, Smug Brothers have shared “(A Minute For) Ruby Skate” with Ghettoblaster, which you can enjoy below:
