Ought Members Rework “Desire” For New Tour Cassingle

At the center of Ought’s third long-player is “Desire4.” Band members Tim Darcy, Tim Keen, Matt May, and Ben Stidworthy each individually reworked the track, and today, they’re presenting Four Desires on translucent purple cassette on Merge Records. The EP can also be heard in full on your preferred digital music service along with “Desire (Euan’s Driving at Night Remix),” a digital-only bonus track.
Tim Keen says of the release:
We thought it would be interesting to see how the four of us as individuals would come to a “remix” (in the loosest possible terms) of our own work, if given a redo of the 1000s of tiny decisions and compromises inherent in collaboration. The only (self-imposed) requirement was that they all be the same length as the original “Desire”; if you have four sets of speakers, you probably don’t want to play them all at the same time, but we thought it would only be considerate to give you the option.
Ought will be back in touring mode next month including appearances at Hopscotch, Lincoln Calling, and shows with Swearin’, Japanese Breakfast, Moaning, and more. A full list of dates can be found below.
