Earth Shares “Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine (Justin K Broadrick Remix)”

On November 3rd, Sub Pop will release two records from the pioneering ambient-metal group Earth. The first is the 30th-anniversary vinyl edition of Earth 2 Special Low Frequency Version and its companion piece, Earth 2.23 Special Lower Frequency MixEarth 2.23 highlights the enduring influence of Earth 2 with brand new, exclusive reinterpretations of Earth 2 material by The Bug feat. Flowdan, Robert Hampson (Loop, Main), Justin K Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu), and Brett Netson (Built to Spill, Caustic Resin.)

the punishingly heavy “Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine (Justin K Broadrick Remix),” a rework of one of the highlights of Earth’s legendary 1993 ambient-metal album Earth 2. This thunderous remix constructed by Justin K Broadrick will surely please fans of his work in the pioneering industrial metal group Godflesh. This track will accompany the previously released “Angels (The Bug Remix feat. Flowdan)” on the upcoming album Earth 2.23 Special Lower Frequency Mix. Broadrick says of the rework: “It was my pleasure once again to remix Earth! The first time was 20 years ago, where I set about a mid-period track and approached it in a meditative Jesu-like mode. This time, the approach is entirely unforgiving, chopping up the riffs of ‘Teeth…’ and coupling them with a drum machine and other mechanical elements, almost revisiting my ‘biomechanical’ remix concept I adopted in the early ‘90s to create something almost Godflesh like in its attack/defense.”

Earth has announced a special performance of Earth 2 Special Low Frequency Version in its entirety on November 22nd at the Moore Theater in Seattle, WA. This concert will feature additional performances by SunnO))) and Jesse Sykes. More dates are to be announced soon.

Fans alike will find the 30th-anniversary vinyl edition of Earth 2 Special Low Frequency Version reviving the double album’s original packaging – an extra-wide jacket with two color inner sleeves – for the first time since the long out-of-print 1993 pressing, adding a double-sided insert with never-before-seen photos of the band from the Earth 2 era. This new edition will be on glacial blue vinyl (US) and Blue Curacao vinyl (UK & EU).

The four-track vinyl version of Earth 2.23 Special Lower Frequency Mix is limited to 2,500 copies worldwide and available on glacial blue vinyl (US) and Blue Curacao vinyl (UK & EU) to match the anniversary edition of Earth 2. The digital version will add a bonus remix by Kevin Richard Martin (aka The Bug). The cover of Earth 2.23 features original artwork by underground art legend Savage Pencil.
