Austin, Texas has always been on the musical map in some form or another so it comes as no surprise to find Chris Monica (aka Yatagarasu) here. Yatagarasu records and releases music under another moniker Hexcrusher, which is deliberate in direction and play, with compositions revolving around EDM standards but done much differently.

Hexcrusher shares its latest single “Klang,” off Slime’s Detective (Stickfigure Recordings) which is set for release on February 5, 2021. Here, the music is playfully wrapped within an 8-bit video world, and the Chiptune sounds allow for a healthy video gaming nostalgia.
