When you’re a gamer, you’re willing to take chances. That seems to be what Los Angeles based artist Mike Haze is about, making his way into Hip-Hop. Haze has released a handful of singles and last year dropped this feeling is temporary EP but now he’s set to release his full-length long-player OPAQUE, set for release November 8th. While he may be known as a pro gamer, Mike Haze brings more than just a controller to the table.
Opaque‘s overall production is held together by a sinister vibe, which Haze is able to deliver that same energy back. The album is littered with dark and cryptic lyricism along with a complex rhyme scheme. Haze keeps the album interesting throughout.
While Haze deters from filling the album with guest appearances throughout, it does feature well-known indie rap icons Sadistik, Ceschi, and P.O.S. The first single released was “Blood on my Wrist (Feat. Sadistik),” and draws on eerie horror movie inspiration. Following that up today is “Worthless (Feat. Ceschi & POS),” which premieres today. The song is a high energy track with all three rappers bringing something unique to the table.
Of the single, Haze offers:
“Working with Ceschi & P.O.S was surreal. These are both artists that have inspired me and my life for the past 5+ years so getting to work with them directly was a special experience. Collabs always push you as an artist – especially with guys like Ceschi and Stef who are masters of their craft.
Worthless is the peak of the Album in both energy and intensity, and I’m glad I was able to bring two very different rappers into the dark world I painted throughout the project.”
Mike Haze will also be performing November 14th at The York Manor with Ceschi, EEVEE, and Gnome Beats. You can pick up tickets in advance here.
