Back in May Open Mike Eagle & Paul White dropped their album and collaborative effort Hella Personal Film Festival (Mello Music Group). After releasing a few singles off the album, sharing “Smiling (Quirky Race Doc)” was inevitable. In trying times and situations, the imagery the song projects couldn’t have dropped at a more appropriate moment. With lines like “If not reparations give me free Black therapy / And tell people you’re scared of them, it makes them act scarily” you get an idea of where Open Mike Eagle is heading over those Paul White beats here.

Producer, musician,  sound manipulator Factor Chandelier has shared the first single office of his forthcoming album Factoria in April on Fake Four, Inc. “Magic City” is one of six instrumentals but the first single. It showcases Factor’s ever developing sound manipulation that lacks nothing, including vocals. That’s not to say the album is not without vocal deliveries by numerous guest appearances by the likes of frequent collaborator Myka 9, Open Mike Eagle, AWOL One and others. There’s a reckoning coming with Factoria, stay tuned.
