Throughout the years, Philadelphia has been a hotbed of sonically diverse music that doesn’t often get its just due. Rock, Hip-Hop, Indie, and Electronic; have all been viable styles that have flourished through the confines of the city, expanding its reach across the world. But the loud abrasiveness of Metal, Hardcore and Punk can’t be ignored either.
Defying classifications, Rid Of Me is set to return with its sophomore release Access To the Lonely (Knife Hits), dropping on November 3, 2023. While the road to its new release may have been a bumpy ride, the shifting lineup may have now solidified with the once core-trio’s – Itarya Rosenberg, Mike McGinnis & Mike Howard – inclusion of Jon DeHart on second guitar. The band offers up video for its latest single, “The Weekend,” a song filled with slow-moving aggression, capitalizing on Rosenberg’s tender yet powerful melancholic vocal delivery. Rid Of Me incorporates a selective amount of melody where it’s fitting, also playing with an assortment of dynamics as guitars drift and hum in the background.
Of the single, Itarya offers:
“‘The Weekend’… I don’t know. This song is kind of complex, but also not at all. It’s an amalgam. Layered and deep, but I hope also easy to understand. I have a lot of shit going on in my brain and relationships are hard. People and emotions are complicated.”
