On June 28, 2024, The Folk Implosion – the group created by John Davis and Sebadoh guitar Lou Barlow back in the early 90s – will share its first new album in 21 years, Walk Thru Me (Joyful Noise Recordings). The group has previously released the singles “Moonlit Kind,” “Bobblehead Doll” as well as for “My Little Lamb,” which the group has now created a video for.
Of the video, Lou Barlow says, “This could be my first song explicitly about parenthood. I worked hard to find the right pitch, tempo, and story for it. I even added a last-minute, emergency, in-person, studio session to perfect it with Scott Solter, who, very generously paid for his own flight to Massachusetts. The video was conceived and shot by my wife Adelle and I. We wanted to illustrate the worst-case scenarios that can haunt a parent’s mind while raising adorable children. First we searched local antique stores for stuffed sheep, serendipitously acquired a lamb puppet from a neighbor, and visited a local smoke shop and acquired an array of implements used for street drugs. We then collected empty nip bottles from various parking lots around town to round off the props needed for a crude stop-action video. Enjoy!”
The band is set to hit the road in support of Walk Thru Me and has shared dates listed below.
