Plato III, rap project of Abilene, TX born + raised, and now LA-based Ryan Silva, shares a remix by label mate Jay Som, as well as the video for his emotive “Heaven.” The track is taken from his recently released LP, The Devil Has Texas (Polyvinyl).
On the remix, Silva offers: “‘Everybody Works’ is my favorite album of 2017. I was in the crowd for the Jay Som/Japanese Breakfast tour. I think the world of Melina and I can’t believe we have a song together now. I always thought of myself as a rapper, but then I read about her making songs in her bedroom and I was like, “That’s what I do”. Looking back, that sort of opened the door to me thinking I might have as much in common with the indie folk as I do the hip-hop world. We both got our names from silly online name generators. This is great.”
On the video: “When you come from nothing sometimes you gotta do some ungodly things to survive. “Heaven” is one of my favorite tracks on the album and the new video helps illustrate my thoughts of whether a life of morality is a realistic expectation for those trying to escape poverty.”
