Mourning [A] BLKstar Shares "Mist Missed," Announce New Album

The Cycle (Don Giovanni Records) is the fifth album by Mourning [A] BLKstar and drops May 15, 2020. It’s the Cleveland-based collective’s masterwork — a double LP spanning 20 songs and three singers, touching on neo-soul, hip-hop, and the cosmic expanse in-between/beyond. It is their song cycle, written in a time that just may need a song or two in support of and in love and power to the living. Today the collective shares the new video for “Mist Missed.”

Of “Mist Missed,” Mourning [A] BLKstar’s RA Washington offers:

LaToya makes this song one of my favorite jams. It is a song for us to consider how we navigate our lives, how we tend to forget what is important. The chorus is sassy in all the best ways. When we drop to just keys and drums and vamp the outro It sent chills down my spine. The Cycle has two drummers and the interplay of them is an essential part of the record overall, but I love it when I can arrange shine for all the musicians, and this is one for the drummers.
