Maddy Davis Drops Video For “Sally! I Met A Boy”

America’s favorite middle kid Maddy Davis releases the official music video for her authentically messy indie pop/rock anthem “Sally! I Met A Boy,” (single released Aug 18th). The visual, directed by Caro Knapp (Olivia Rodrigo, Fergie), tells the relatable tale of wanting your closest supporters to not be doubtful of your latest fantasy romance, even though all of your past lovers ended in the same fate.  The narrative is captured in true Y2K fashion and aesthetic, as we journey through the LA suburbs with Maddy, her band, and new beau, as they make their way to Maddy’s new apartment on the West Coast. You’ll experience an intimate live performance from inside a U-Haul lined with Maddy’s old college room, and a painstaking journey to reach her sister, Sally, who has been her confidant in love since she can remember.

Davis explains, “Caro and I had planned this video for months before we were able to shoot it, which made the actual shoot day even more fun and rewarding. We really wanted to make the set look and feel as personal as possible, so we used actual photos from my room, and also my friends, bandmates, and boyfriend as extras. It really felt like my whole life was in a 10 sq foot box, so it’s cool that we were able to show so much of my life in only the span of a couple minutes.”

Soaring through the skies with her angst-ridden power pop ballad intonations, the edginess of Davis’ lyrics oozes authenticity and takes listeners from fairy tale to reality. Full of energy and passion, Davis’ upcoming debut EP MUD is full of authentic teenage experiences that so many can empathize with. The quintessence of Maddy Davis has been poured into this latest release; exploring and emulating imperfection was the baseline of this story, and is the perfect imprint onto the listener if they’re looking to know what to expect from Davis as she solidifies herself as an artist to watch.
