Kid Bloom Shares “Afterlife”

Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist Kid Bloom (Lennon Kloser) has released a new single, the infectious “Afterlife” which was co-produced by Kid Bloom and robopop (Weezer, Lana Del Rey, Maroon 5). “This song is about rebirth and letting go. It’s actually a sad song but I wanted to brighten it up with the production,” explains Lennon. “I’ve been chatting with my friends about life a lot lately. A current theme is this idea of ‘not getting it right’ the first time around. ‘Afterlife’ plays off the sentiment of learning your lessons in this life so you can get it right in the next.”

For the visuals, Kloser once again tapped the same director, Eric Daniels, who he worked with on his “Sparkle” Music Video. The video depicts two different Kid Blooms—one somberly playing the acoustic guitar, and the other a silhouetted shadowed version of Kid Bloom dancing to the track. The “continuous take” visualizer is a subtle nod to lyric: “All this time you’re dancin’ with the shadows on the wall…”

Today’s single is the first bit of new music Kid Bloom has released since his Shaky Knees EP which featured the singles “Walk with Me” and “Sparkle,” with the former quickly surpassing 1 million total streams in the first few months it’s been out. The follow-up to the 2022 breakout album Highway, the EP showcases Kloser in his most profound and commanding artistic form. Yet, in keeping with the signature Kid Bloom style, there’s an enticing playfulness woven throughout the project that renders it an irresistibly joyous musical journey. Reflecting on his ongoing musical evolution Kloser shares “I’ve always gotten down on myself for putting out music and feeling like I could hear my references, but a good song just makes you dance and feel joy.” “This sentiment encapsulates the spirit of Kid Bloom’s upcoming album, set to release in early 2024, with the EP and “Afterlife” serving as a tantalizing teaser of what is to come.
