If you must, take a deep breath in as Finn Wolfhard – known for his acting chops in Stranger Things, Ghostbusters – shares a new track and accompanying music video for the latest release from his debut solo full-length release Happy Birthday (AWAL), which drops this Friday, June 6th. 

“Objection!” is an impressive offering, which is driven by a bright acoustic guitar and Wolfhard’s treated vocals. The song itself is a relatable track about losing yourself in a relationship, for better or for worse. Strong strumming backs Wolfhard’s layered vocals as he laments, “The happiness of it all, set back by you.” Not so surprising is his ability to deliver a catchy melody.

The music video, directed by Marcus Mazzula and filmed entirely on 16mm film, depicts Finn exploring the snowy landscapes of British Columbia while performing the song with his guitar, embarking on a journey with no clear destination. Between drawing inspiration from the sincerity and playfulness of many Beatles music videos to incorporating 70’s camera movements, the video maintains the energy of the track while providing a stunning visual accompaniment. 

Wolfhard has a run of West Coast headlining shows, titled the Objection! Tour, in support of Happy Birthday, which kicks off next month, with most shows sold out. The tour begins June 5th in Los Angeles, CA and hits markets including San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver. Fans can purchase tickets here.
