Producer/musician Damu The Fudgemunk is set to release the forthcoming full-length, Conversation Peace (Def Pressé/EMI/KPM), on September 3rd. The first release in a new series called  KPM  Crate  Diggers, the instrumentals for Conversation Peace were entirely recorded using samples from KPM’s iconic music and sound design library — famously sampled by the likes of Jay-Z, 2Pac, Common, Madlib, Prince Paul, J Dilla, and many more. Following previous singles, “Four Better Or Worse (Pt. 1)” (Feat. Nitty Scott) and “God Speed” (Feat. Blu), “Enchanted Spirits” features Damu’s longtime collaborator, Boston-based MC, Insight Innovates on the mic. Together, the two pick up where they left off as one of the most potent teams, preserving hip-hop’s classic traditions of beat and rhymes. Orchestral arrangements and drama-filled stabs, curated from the KPM’s iconic sound design library, provided the foreground for Damu to add the track’s punchy drums and rhythmic scratching. “The original composition was just beautiful,” says Damu, “Being in London hearing this was a magical feeling, hence the title ‘Enchanted Spirits.’” Insight raps precise passages to uplift and analyze self-potential, and honor great minds of the past century, particularly black Americans in science and technology. This is reflected in the accompanying video directed by Insight and filmed at Greater Egleston Community High School in Boston, MA.

Conversation Peace began with a trip to KPM’s London HQ in late January of 2020. “As a record collector, I’m very familiar with the legacy of the KPM brand,” says EarlDavis (aka Damu the Fudgemunk). “Listening to the entire catalogue was a history lesson and the amount of great composers and compositions in the recordings was endless. From drums to sound FX to orchestras to small rhythm sections to ambient noises, I heard a wide variety of things and they were all so well produced and recorded. The history of KPM and the opportunity to collaborate with the prestigious lineage made the stakes very high for me and I knew I needed to deliver a quality product. It’s an honor to be the first artist to release a ‘KPM Crate Diggers’ title.”“Damu the Fudgemunk came to our studio in London to carefully dig his way through the whole KPM 1000 series,” says Peter Clarke of EMI Production Music. “If anyone is in doubt about sampling being an artform, they just need to watch him work!
