Aesop Rock Shares “Movie Night”

Aesop Rock has just shared a video for “Movie Night” from his recently released (and universally acclaimed) new album Black Hole Superette. The new visual, created by Aesop and frequent collaborator  Justin CORO Kaufman, mimics the song’s lightning-paced stream of consciousness via a cavalcade of loosely connected images and animations, a representation of the inside of Aes’s wandering mind as he takes his dog on a walk around the neighborhood.

The new video arrives alongside the streaming release of the Black Hole SuperetteInstrumentals. Entirely self-produced by Aesop, the instrumentals unveil how the album stands as one of his most technically accomplished LPs in a discography brimming with them. At once dense and kinetic, instinctive but labyrinthine, it’s an album that could only be crafted by one man’s hand. Black Hole Superette is about the pull of the invisible (or all-too-visible) forces around us and the way they shape our psyches. The album—already the fourth in an exceptionally productive 2020s for Aes—frequently plays like something half-remembered from a dream.
