Hip-hop vet and Oakland son Zion I is excited to release the latest video for the single, “Saving Souls,” off the album dropping this summer, The Labyrinth. On “Saving Souls,” Zumbi challenges listeners to use the vibrant culture around them to empower one another, instead of tearing people down.

With his signature relaxed, smooth-flowing rhymes, Zumbi references people who have inspired him, including Cassius Clay and ancient deities, including Mohammed, Akhenaton and Hare Ram. With the backdrop of West Oakland and San Francisco, Zumbi raps over a looping drum, persistent electronic beats and female vocalized “I’s” that become part of the beat.
