An enigma of sorts, from the belly of L.A., comes Sailor Beast, the nom de plume by one Alicia Angeles. The style of her music is atmospheric but heavily fitted with tribal beats. Raised in Southern California she began recording found sounds at an early age before the thought of music production was even a thought. With Sailor Beast, she remains unclassifiable. Fresh off a tour with Madame Gandi, she’s set to release her solo album this spring.
Today Sailor Beast premieres the video for “My Favorite Ex” (Warning Arts), which showcases her inability to be classified with wondrous loops, ethereal backdrops, and spaced-out imagery.
