Video Premiere: The Cuckoos, "Heartbreak Paradise"

2017 was undeniably a standout year for The Cuckoos. With the release of their self-titled debut EP in April, the band garnered praise for their ability to conjure the psych rock magic of the 1960s while remaining distinctly modern and forward thinking.
The success of the EP led to tours in Mexico and the UK, countless shows across their homestate of Texas, and their first-ever concert in New York City. The quartet is currently preparing to record their follow-up album and just wrapped up eight shows at SXSW 2018.
Today Ghettoblaster has the pleasure of premiering the video for their cut, “Heartbreak Paradise.” This is what vocalist/keyboardist Kenneth Frost had to say about it:
“For the video I kind of had an idea of what I wanted. I knew I wanted to go get a bunch of silver stuff and hang the letters around the room, but I got with my buddy Rodrick Howell and his partners Marcus Bustamante and Austin Minton and I showed them all some examples of videos I liked. Then we rented some lights and spent a day shooting before the band and I went to Mexico. While we were there, I filmed a lot of the ‘paradise’ footage at the Bahidora festival we played and then we all sat down and watched it 5,000 times while we edited it. It was a lot of fun to make and I’m sure we’ll try to outdo ourselves on the next one.”
