Top Ten of Twenty Fourteen: Exo of Noctem

Noctem

Noctem

Extreme blackened death Spaniards Noctem proved the adage “third time’s a charm” when they released their album Exilium through Prosthetic Records on Sept. 16. Lauded as “a stunning, full and complex album that is a must-have for any fan of the genre” (Metal Temple), Exilium knows no boundaries as it stretches the band’s limits to a whole new level. The record has been hailed as the band’s best effort to date from several notable press outlets (Metal Hammer, Rockzone, Metalbite), while No Clean Singing dubs it “an album forged by experts at their craft who knew exactly how to kick out music of fury, fire and war.”
Naturally, Ghettoblaster sought out the band to find out what other albums they believed had reached a whole new level in 2014. These are the ones guitarist Exo believed were worthy.
1. Taake – Kulde
2. Enthroned – Sovereigns
3. Behemoth – The Satanist
4. Septicflesh – Titan
5. Arch Enemy – War Eternal
6. Cuelebre – Oinos
7. Machine Head – Bloodstone & Diamonds
8. Agalloch – The Serpent & The Sphere
9. Cannibal Corpse – A Skeletal Domain
10. Massacre – Back from Beyond
