Guitarist Graham Coxon has carved out his own niche after departing from Blur and the band’s eventual breakup, although he began releasing albums during his tenure with the band. Blur did reunite in 2008, but this isn’t a history lesson in the band. “Falling” was written by talented unknown songwriter and dedicated father Luke Daniel, who after a long fight with chronic pain tragically ended his own life last year. To mark what would have been Luke’s 45th birthday, Graham has recorded a new version of the track featuring on a double A-side, which includes Luke’s original recording. Part of the proceeds of Falling will go to The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), an award-winning charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.
In releasing the tracks, Graham aims to reach out and give hope to everyone directly affected by this epidemic, their friends, family and loved ones as well as help raise awareness of CALM’s groundbreaking work in leading the fight to remove the barriers surrounding male vulnerability, which prevent men in crisis from seeking help.
