Riding the success of their best album to date, the 2014’s release Sway, the Bay Area formed quintet Whirr have announced a string of tour dates this April. Spanning across the U.S., Whirr will be joined on the road by Adventures, Wildhoney, and Wild Moth.
Recorded at Oakland’s Atomic Garden with Sunbather producer Jack Shirley, Sway is the most fleshed-out full-sounding release from the band to date, and has quickly become a monumental success with fans and critics alike. While bassist Nick Bassett lives in Philadelphia and the rest of the members live on the coast, the band has found a perfect balance within the group when it comes to writing.
As the band’s blistering yet beautiful shoegaze sound rips though each song, Whirr also incorporates elements of aggressive punk that shows no mercy. The end result is a band that aims to blow out your speakers with noisy feedback and dreamy vocals. Sway is a pulsating LP that is triumphant in every way possible.
If you plan on seeing Whirr live, be ready to have erupted eardrums. Whirr aims to blow out every PA system that they can get their hands on. The louder they are able to play-the happier they are.
