Sun Abduction, a new garage/psych band out of New York released “Tripura” (bandcamp), the first single from their new self-titled album, which is out now as a limited-edition cassette on Axis Mundi Records.
The band is currently touring down to Austin Psych Fest and back, with dates through mid-May.
This self-titled release brims and overflows with waves of distorted fuzz, echoed melodies, and driving backbeats. The tide rises and falls with the vocals of lead singer Zach Koenig, and the album was recorded entirely on a vintage 388 reel-to-reel tape machine, so it’s easy to hear this warmth and glow reflecting and refracting upon the layered sound.
