Spray Paint share "Signal Master," tour (2015)

Spray Paint just shared a new banger “Signal Master” from their forthcoming, fifth album (and second LP of 2015) over at FLOOD. Dopers was recorded last August in the middle of 87 shows in 66 cities and in 12 different countries by Chris Woodhouse (The Oh Sees, Ty Segall, Mayyors). You can almost hear the tape melting on this record. Easily the most hi fi they have ever been recorded, but without losing the scum. Moments of Jesus Lizard, Glenn Branca, Sister-era Sonic Youth come to mind at different points. One side of the record adds in a bass guitar which is a new thing for their sound.

Spray Paint on Dopers: “It was very hot and wildfires were burning all the while on the drive from Portland to Sacramento. The studio we recorded at was surrounded by a harsh scene of bleakness, sadness, and homelessness. Step outside for a cigarette and junkies basically swarm to beg coins, smokes, and things I won’t mention. We ate at a 24 hour casino diner for pretty much every meal, and half of the songs are about things that were happening there in the wee hours. We were on a very tight schedule and did what we had to in lieu of sleep.”
