Sharon Jones diagnosed with cancer

Singer Sharon Jones, 57, the frontwoman of the soul and funk revivalist group Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, has revealed she’s been diagnosed with stage-one bile duct cancer and has been forced to cancel all promotional duties. An album, scheduled for release in August, will also be postponed.
In a statement posted on her website, Jones says early detection of the stage-one tumor on her bile duct means she is expected to make a full recovery.
“We caught it really early and fast and the doctors say it’s operable and curable,” she wrote. “I will be having surgery very soon and will have to rest and recover.”
Best wishes from Ghettoblaster for a speedy recovery Sharon!
