Beans on Toast readies album for Xtra Mile, tours (2015)

Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank Turner, Against Me!, Mineral) announced the release of drunk folk singer, barefoot troubadour and cult legend Beans on Toast’s new album titled The Grand Scheme of Things (pre-order via iTunes).
Out digitally on Tuesday, March 10, The Grand Scheme of Things marks the sixth full-length from Beans on Toast (solo vehicle for singer-songwriter Jay McAllister) and is an album that turns to more wholesome topics of home life with his longtime muse Lizzy Bee, an upcoming honeymoon, and a whole lot of loving; a marked change in the man who once was a poster boy for recreational drugs. What hasn’t changed, though, is Beans on Toast’s unrivaled ability to tell a tale, his sharp social commentary and his ability to tackle difficult subjects from an everyday point of view. Here, his thoughts from the last year are honestly regaled through eleven life-affirming and frequently humorous tracks. Additionally, Beans on Toast will be appearing live in proper venues, bars, apartments, houses across North America, and even on a luxury cruise liner as he joins the Flogging Molly Salty Dog Cruise from Miami to the Bahamas on his upcoming “Skiffle” tour. Beginning on Wednesday, March 4 in Cambridge, MA at the Middle East (Upstairs), the tour will hit a number of markets including New York, NY on Friday, March 6, Washington, DC on Sunday, March 8, Toronto, ON on Monday, March 9, Phoenix, AZ on Monday, March 23, Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday, March 25 and culminate in a performance at Knuckleheads in Lawrence, KS on Friday, April 3. For more information on the upcoming tour including tickets, locations and performance times, visit Beans on Toast’s official website, http://beansontoastmusic.com.
Recorded at London’s Soup Studios, The Grand Scheme of Things was fittingly produced by Sam Beer, an old family friend who taught Beans on Toast his first song on the guitar over eighteen years ago on a camping holiday in Spain, and who was reunited with Beans on the London music circle ten years later. Together, with the help of friends Bobby Banjo and contributors Will Varley and Brooke Sharkey, this is an album that marks a change but not a complete makeover for everyone’s favorite modern one-man band. Beans on Toast will be making the following appearances in North America during March and April. Dates below.
