The write-up deems the band “the Death Grips of gospel, torching the South’s dark underbelly” and praises their “beastly, bent-metal beats” while likening them to TV On The Radio, Nick Cave and Kanye West.

Also, Stereogum profiled Algiers as a Band To Watch. The piece delves into the influence of the “Christ-haunted” American South on the band’s inimitable clamor.
