Young Jesus to tour in support of self-titled record (2017)

Los Angeles experimental indie rockers Young Jesus have announced an extensive tour with Pope, kicking off in Raleigh, NC and concluding in Los Angeles with Hovvdy. Full dates below.
Young Jesus just released their stunning self-titled record.Young Jesus is the follow up to their stunning sophomore album Grow / Decompose which was released in 2015. While their latest offering still features Young Jesus’ signature mix of dynamic, catchy, guitar driven indie rock and poetically poignant lyrics, this new release finds the band exploring more atmospheric textures accentuated by delicate pianos and reverb drenched feedback all anchored by sing-songwriter John Rossiter’s delicate, emotive vocals.
Clocking in at nearly 50 minutes, with only seven tracks, Young Jesus is by far the bands longest release yet, which wasn’t necessarily a conscious decision when they began writing the album. After the release of Grow / Decompose in 2015, Young Jesus began brainstorming ideas for their follow up record. Concurrently in the United States, the election cycle was beginning to take speed.
Disturbed by what they were witnessing on the news and across the country, the band began experimenting with improvisation in their live sets, attempting to capture and evoke their confused feelings of the day into their performance. Soon improvisation became a therapeutic way for the band to deal with the high emotions and anxiety that came with these new days of uncertainty, eventually spilling its way onto the record.
Young Jesus is both a document of a band coming to grips with the chaos surrounding our culture and an intimate look inward of individuals trying to understand their how their personal emotions and actions can immediately affect those around them, hopefully creating a microcosm of a more accepting, and nurturing world.
