Wrekmeister Harmonies share "Light Falls I: The Mantra," tour

In anticipation of the release of their new seven-song magnum opus Light Falls on September 16, Wrekmeister Harmonies have shared the album’s meditative opener, “Light Falls I: The Mantra” (listen on YouTube). “Light Falls I: The Mantra” features Wrekmeister Harmonies’ core members J.R. Robinson (vocals, guitar) and Esther Shaw (keyboards, piano, violin, vocals) joined by guitarist Ryley Walker.

Light Falls, as a whole, features Robinson and Shaw joined by an array of musicians:  Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s Thierry Amar (bass, contrabass), Sophie Trudeau (piano, violin, vocals) and Timothy Herzog (drums), Cave / Bitchin Bajas’ Cooper Crain as well as Ryley Walker.  The resulting output with the new lineup continues to transcend classification and expand Wrekmeister Harmonies’ sonic palette on what is their most focused, compelling and powerful release to date.
Light Falls’ title originates from the text of If This Is A Man, Primo Levi’s meditation on the year the author spent as an inmate at Auschwitz. The Italian Jewish chemist and anti-fascist resistance fighter suggested in this seminal work that inhumanity comes about when things change slowly and people begin accepting things that they would normally find reprehensible.
Wrekmeister Harmonies recently announced select shows in support of Light Falls in Toronto, Chicago, New York City and Montreal this November, and have confirmed a European tour to follow into December.  These shows will showcase their new 5-piece lineup that includes members of Insect Ark and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
