Them Jones Share Single "The Woman Is A Poor Child"

The Philadelphia-based group Them Jones shares its new pop-enthused single “The Woman Is A Poor Child.” The song is the band’s first new material since the release of 60s psychedelia-tinged 2018 release, Transient.

Of the new single, the band offers this:

“The Woman is a Poor Child” is “influenced by psych-era Beatles and Kinks, particularly McCartney’s piano-based tunes of the time (the ones off of Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour that Lennon liked to call “granny music”). Basically from top to bottom – it was written as such on piano and the band quickly read that and coalesced around the musical theme: the bassist attempted to go full “Lovely Rita,” and the drummer maintains his stalwart Ringo-esque simplicity. The Pepperyness is finally embraced in full with mellotron and orchestral samples, harmonies, and lush reverb.
