Superchunk Shares Track "Erasure" With Help From Stephin Merritt & Katie Crutchfield

With the help of Stephin Merritt & Katie Crutchfield, Superchunk shares new track “Erasure.” Out February 16, What A Time To Be Alive lives up to 2018 and features a number of guests on the new album. You have Sabrina Ellis (A Giant Dog, Sweet Spirit), Skylar Gudasz, and David Bazan  (Pedro The Lion), who all appear on the record. Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan says, “Part of that was wanting a feeling of community. I think that’s important to not be completely bummed out about everything all the time.” On second single “Erasure,” McCaughan is joined by Katie Crutchfield (Waxahatchee) and Stephin Merritt (The Magnetic Fields); together, their unmistakable voices add another irresistible element to the song’s memorable chorus.

Lyrically, “Erasure” focuses on powerful people who attempt to silence the marginalized. It follows Superchunk’s two 7-inch art auctions, which raised over $70,000 for the Southern Poverty Law Center and Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, as well as the album announcement for What a Time to Be Alive and the release of its ferocious title track.
