Top Ten of 2017: Daniel Noring of God Mother

Released in October via Party Smasher Inc, the label owned by The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, God Mother’s Vilseledd earned a heap of praise, including comparisons to Nasum and the Melvins.
Based in Stockholm, Sweden, God Mother will travel to these shores in December to play one of The Dillinger Escape Plan’s three farewell shows in New York City (Dec 27 – New York, NY @ Terminal 5 w/ The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mike Patton).
Ghettoblaster recently caught up with God Mother’s Daniel Noring to ask about his favorite releases of the year. This is what he told us.
Guerilla Toss – GT Ultra
I really love this band, i found them early this year with the album they released last year, Eraser Stargazer.

Metz – Strange Peace
Even better than the last album. One of best live bands I’ve seen.

Tera Melos – Trash Generator
Nick Reinhart is probably my favorite guitar player, he really takes the guitar to a new level.

Palm – Shadow Expert
I really like how they share a riff between the two guitarists. I always wanted try that.

Juana Molina – Halo
I found her through Deerhoof. They shared one of her videos on their Facebook page and I fell in love.

The I.L.Y’s – Bodyguard
Zach Hill is the best. He always gives me inspiration.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard – Flying Microtonal Banana Microtonal!
They have released two more albums this year that are also good, but this one is fantastic.

Odonis Odonis – No Pop
Super aggressive synths and heavy beats, who doesn’t like that?

Setsuko – Live Life | Die Happy
Setsuko is a very new band. We did a show together earlier this year, they are great – no bullshit! I really like this recording, I think it’s recorded on an iPhone or something haha. But you can hear that they got it right from the beginning.

Big Walnuts Yonder – Self-titled
Coolest musicians, the same band.
