Top Ten of 2017: Anthony Gesa of Gatherers

Gatherers, a band consisting of Matt Popowski, Adam Cichocki, Rich Weinberger, Anthony Gesa, and Rob Talalai, announced their signing to Equal Vision Records in March 2015, with the release of a bold music video for “God Deluxe,” from their sophomore full-length Quiet World.
With Quiet World, Gatherers created an emotional and cathartic experience, enveloping listeners into a captivating world of anger, intensity, and frustration. Gatherers just finished working on new music at VuDu Studios with Mike Watts (The Dear Hunter, As Tall As Lions, Hopesfall, Tides of Man).
Ghettoblaster recently caught up with guitarist Anthony Gesa to run down his favorite albums of the year. This is what he told us.

  1. Quicksand – Interiors

Nothing really to say. Band can do no wrong (musically speaking ofcourse).

  1. Lorde – Melodrama

Brilliant song writer. She hasn’t put out something I didn’t enjoy. Very smart and unique pop songs. Every song is a banger!

  1. God Mother – Vilseledd

These guys are the real deal. The record is special. Everything I look for in a punk/hardcore band/record. Great message, unrivaled work ethic and great all around people who write devastating songs. This record is basically perfect. There is not a track I skip.

  1. Metz – Strange Peace

Killer live band. Just a fun record to listen to.

  1. Citizen – As You Please

Masterful song writing. Sonically beautiful. Not one track skip. Not reinventing the wheel, but doing it better than any other band in their genre.

  1. Unsane – Sterilize

Nothing to say. The kings of noise rock.

  1. Bent Knee – Land Animal

Courtney is one of the most talented vocalists. Her songwriting is beautiful. The band is comprised of some of the best musicians I’ve ever seen. It was awe inspiring to see them every day for a month.

  1. Aviator – Loneliness Leaves The Light On For Me

Smart and captivating hardcore band from Boston. They will be the band everyone talks about 10 years after they break up.

  1. Mutoid Man – War Moans

If Stephen Brodsky is involved, I’m in.

  1. All Pigs Must Die – Hostage Animal

Members of what ver bands putting out music that is far superior to what their other bands have released.
